Food

No weirder are those that call Ix home, than the sustenance derived from the realm. For a land drowned in an ichorous sea, the outcroppings that do happen to resist the roiling seas are lush in the parody of fauna and flora. Harvested from these lands, they often exist in pastiche of the realms such are familiar to. Where the lagomorphs hold shape something akin to flesh, the flora and fauna of this realm too hold shape recognisable as food from visitor's homeland; presumably one more thing gathered to Ix at some point, where these lands now emulate. Be it with the expected ink tones and glistening hues. Depending on the object you wish to prepare, it should behave as something visitors are more versed in. Though inexperienced visitors cooking for themselves must oft be reminded to place lids on pots, weights on leaves, or some vesicle to hold such. Thankfully to everyone's sanity, only on some occasions do the life of this realm try to retreat back to the inky ocean. Salads, roots, and previously immobile foodstuffs have been known to escape cooking and/or preparation. The cause or probability of this phenomena is unclear, a drive to return to the seas for reconstitution, potentially? A curious point to bring to attention is whilst the flora of Ix behaves (mostly) as expected, the fauna seems to not be quite right... They are of course, another imitation of life outside the realm, a supposed entity of ink. These creatures do not seem to have the awareness the lagomorphs of [[Ix]] possess; Moreso a "recording" of such animals. Behaving, or emulating, may be more adequate of description. Upon capture of one for food, many people are perplexed to find they do not comprise of organs or common anatomy, but the densely viscous non-Newtonian fluids all is comprised of here. Even still, experience says to watch out for previously expected "deceased" creatures to simply get back up in compulsion to return to the waters. Even slices of "flesh", disposed of limbs and the like, can sometimes attempt to get loose. All the while, despite all of its peculiarities, whatever speculation had over the origins of the ink and the creatures and plants that inhabit here in crude parody, do provide nutrition enough for those of requiring sustenance. One very curious property of the life found here, is upon its consumption, unbefore known knowledge burns in the back of the mind, filling the organic brain of fragments and abstractions of information. Too incomplete to be of much use, sadly, but it is queer to suddenly know the baking recipe for frosting to some confectionery not included in the knowledge. Or the sigil to some greater arcana.

Diet of Ix

To most extent, it is not required for the lagomorphs of Ix to require the nutrients of the lands that spawned them. With often returning to the inks replenishing seems to occur then. But in lieu of time or distance to their ocean, a meal from this realm can replace the ink lost from within themselves from various means. From without Ix, they have been observed to eat food they are not accustomed to. Favouring more a diet of flora, perhaps a holdover for the form's namesake. Though, perhaps they eat such foods as but one more example of information gathering, instead of sustenance. It does seem to give them some level of satisfaction, given thought to them having a sense of taste, regardless of how that sense is performed.

Alternative Supplementation

Lesser talked about, for matters of constitution, are the more... unique methods these creatures of Ix can utilise. As mentioned above, these entities are capable of digesting foreign matter to them. Though, a fact often preferred to not be mentioned, that would not exempt anyone from that matter. Accounts of this are few and far between, either for loss of the observer, or some do not wish to disclose this. These lagomorphs are not constrained to the diet of flora their organic counterparts or obligate to. Most commonly, this practice can come in two forms: Contemporary use of their emulated anatomy to consume the individual - whole or otherwise. Alternatively, there is no constriction of form to these creatures, and that can be a boon to their... feeding... Potentially reducing their shape to their constituent ink, or as far as required to restrain and engulf the individual. Who they seem to deem as edible is not understood, nor questioning their kind yielded answers that are suitably coherent. A concern of note, is they never seem to talk about the individual in a past-tense; This quirk is uncertain if it is merely a difficulty with a language barrier, or something more is happening here. It is easier to recognise a particularly "hungry" individual when it parodies the form of recognisable creatures they so commonly take. But more difficult to prevent is when they reduce to ink. Able to be insidious, anything not hermetically sealed will allow their liquid shape to traverse boundaries. Though with magic at their disposal, it is better not to cogitate on what is not accessible to them. Observers note: this process is entirely separate from the ceremonies on Ix with the induction of acolytes to their fold. Whilst that ritualistic engulfment of an individual, and those of predation cannot be compared - as it is unclear if much of the entity survives the latter.

Visitor's Diet

As previously discussed visitors can find the food they require within Ix, as long as pallet and a strong stomach (and mind) is had; all without leaving the realm. Observer's Note: Do not expect to circumvent the contemporary practice of study and observation by consuming this sustenance in greater volumes. The organic brain is not accustomed to being filled with but fragments of information, and will revile as the crude inks of flesh and fauna scribe its contents into the walls of your mind. Potentially causing what is jovially described as a "food coma", but in more serious terms the mind becomes comatose until the inscription is completed. If such information even fits in their head to begin with. Suspiciously, the lands of Ix seem to provide what it believes outsiders would require. Prescribing some sentience to that decision, though unclear what or how. Potentially the influx of visitors is itself a flow of information. And facilitating such, guarantees that.
